Review my Build

That is a great case for cooling! You can mount two 120mm fans or two 140mm fans in the top(not included when you buy it). You can also add an 80mm slim fan on the back, under the motherboard(not included) And you can add a 120mm in the bottom!(not included)

If you max it out....you can have 4x 120mm and 2x 140mm and 1x 80mm fans.

That is actually one of the best air flow cases you can buy.

Great mix! HD4850 does get quite hot, so I'd recommend placing in some case fans, or a nice cool case like the one you picked. One worry though, the latencies on that RAM are quite high. I'd look for something around the 4-4-4-12 area, or at minimum 5-5-5-15.

ok, I've spent the better part of an hour looking at your list....you did a good job.

I've built a couple pc's, but I wanted to build a new one in a couple months...I think I'm going to steel parts of your list. the case is damn nice.

everything seems to work well with eachother, you shouldn't have any problems.

I assume you were shooting for a grand? since you kinda cheaped-out on the keyboard. and I assume your just going to re-use your old mouse, speakers, & printer?

also, I noticed you didn't have a cpu fan picked out....I know the cpu comes with one...but the stock fans that they come with are crap.

I'd recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118003

and on a side note: if you do go with that fan...it has a backplate, so make sure the first thing you do isn't to screw the mobo into the case, unless you want tom take the mobo off later...
when you get it all, put the cpu in its socket, put the thermal paste on it (a very thin layer, its not a peanut butter sandwich), and then put the cpu fan ontop of that....and then, you can finally attach the mobo to the case.

oh, and heres the thermal paste you want: artic silver 5 (ain't no better) :)

Yup, reusing old mouse and speakers. As for the keyboard, was just going for something cheap and functional.

How are these sets of ram?

Case fans

CPU cooler (one you linked was a bit too expensive, already over the attempted budget of 1000$ lol)

Is the additional thermal paste really necessary? I thought most heatsinks came preapplied with the stuff. I'm not planning to overclock or anything.

I would not put OCZ RAM in an Asus motherboard...many people have stability issues with that combo. Corsair would be the better choice.:)

the cpu fan you picked...(after shipping) is only $3.75 cheaper...

anywho, the case fans look fine as well.

as for the psu...modular is nice and all, but your power supply will be sitting on the pc's bottom...so any extra unneeded cables can just hang out down there, and they wont be in anythings way....so for your case...a modular psu isn't a big deal.

as for the thermal paste...the difference between stock & artic silver 5 can be several degrees Celsius.

Scout - my pc is like 5 years old...it has a asus mobo with ocz ram...ans its running fine...well, a little s-l-o-w....but again, its 5 years old....hence why I want to build a new one.
