review of my future core i7-950 system

Hi,

First: thanks for this awesome forum! I did a lot of research in all the posts here during the past months and I think I'm finally ready to build my i7 computer.

Just to get some other opinions, I would like to present my selected components here and maybe somebody takes a quick moment to tell me if that system "makes sense":

CPU: Intel Core i7-950
Graphic: Point of View GTX-470
Board: Asus P6X58D-E (Intel X58)
Memory: Corsair 3x2GB DDR3-1600 (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9)
Harddisc (primary): Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB
Harddisc (secondary): Seagate Momentus XT (500GB, 4GB SSD)
Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-875M - 875 Watt
Blue Ray/DVD: LG CH08NS, BluRay ROM
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD
OS: Win 7 64bit

What do you think, do those components match or will there be some bottleneck that I could avoid from the beginning?

And some more specific questions:
- is 6 GB of RAM appropriate for Win 7?
- could I gain significant power with higher clocked RAM's?

Please note that the choice of i7-9xx is set. And also, the selection of a GeForce videocard is not part of the discussion (because of the CUDA architecture for Matlab).

6 gb of ram is great for 1366 boards and intel i7 systems if gaming and if you want you can get 1866 mhz ram from corsair you would pay a bit for it though and you would want a good heatsink/fan cooler.

Two GTX 460 is indeed a good idea but I might go with one 470 for now and maybe buy a second one as soon as they drop below 200 USD...

About the speed of the memories: I actually read that you don't even gain much of speed with the improvement from 1600 to 1866 MHz... Do you think it matters?

i personally would just stick with 1600 ram with 7-7-7 or 8-8-8 timings.

for the gpu: i usually like to say start with only 1 gpu if you can. i am going to say the same thing here. yeah they perform really well, but down the road, you can't tri-sli them. i personally would stick with the 470.
