In the review they were comparing a X2900XT to stock 8800GTX, slightly overclocked 8800GTS 640MB and superclocked 8800GTS 320MB

8800GTX was performing better that X2900XT in all benchmarks

Even 8800GTS was performing better than X2900XT in many cases

they're selling them for 409 at newegg so i guess it is okay since the gtx still cost more than the 2900xt

2900XT for $410 on newegg

MindSnap,

What rumors you are talking about ??!!! Many other websites came out with similar reviews.......

Yeah and i think its an effective competitor only to get better as more matured drivers are released. if i had the money i'd buy one :D

Unforunately they don't have something in the price range of the GTS 320 MB that's what I want, athough then I would have to get a crossfire mobo instead of SLI...

It's not really made to go up against the GTX it's over a $100 cheaper at launch. This is more for the GTS 640MB.

Exactly! No one seems to be getting that.

This is the XT model not the XTX folks. The XT model has HALF the memory, and is downclocked. For $409, and what in my opinion is an overall better card, given how it has better processing capabilities in my opinion, and the fact that most sites tested on Vista, tells me that drivers have a ways to go.

keep in mind that NVIDIA has had seven months to perfect a driver, whereas HD2900 series cards JUSt came out and have, probably, crappy drivers. Once drivers are perfected, and the XTX model comes out, I'd expect prices to drop, as well as a better series of cards.

Go NVIDIA? Nah, Go AMD.

I think the price will fall a bit sooner or later.. I seriously can't wait for the 26's, They have to at least match the 8600's. It would be a big blow indeed if they can't...:(

It wouldn't surprise if they didn't, due to the drivers. In two months or so, I expect the HD2600 series to be better than the 8600 series. Just my two cents.

:D The XTX has an extra 5mhz on the core clock.. whoopee. And the extra memory would help with Larger textures and the such but in fact you would probably see a slight decrease in performance compared to the xt with those who don't because companies cut cost when putting large amounts of memory on a card by using higher latencied memory. But i agree on everything else, Go AMD!!

Yeah, AMD was late to the game and they're paying for it, but I don't care, Radeon products, on my monitor, have always tended to display a better picture, so, I'm leaning more towards that. Frames are nice, but seriously I don't care when I'm breaking 100+ or whatever on average. =)

I've heard some people say this.. that ATI cards actually render better or something to that effect.. Making a clearer more defined picture. I've only used Nvidia simply because each time they had the better mid-range card. I can't wait to put an ATI card into my (upgraded) comp :D

Besides htis is how I see it as well...

if it costs TWO out of ONE HUNDRED+ frames to render a better image, then f*ck it, bring on the better image.
