i heard some people say that draining it, then putting it in a freezer for 24 hours, then charing and draining it several times will help it gain more life(since mine lasts for about 50 minutes)

anyone every try this, or any other succesful way to make a laptop batter last longer?

Try it, I doubt it would hurt anything :P I think this was more for older batteries before they were all lithium. But even so, I tried this myself some time ago on an old IBM battery (486SX/25, well before lithium batteries were standard). I can say, it didn't do squat :P)

Freezing batteries to help them last longer only really with fully charged new batteries (If you're not going to use them for a while). I'm not sure what freezing would do to it when it's not charged at all. Rechargeable batteries have a certain limit to how many times it can be charged.

Plus freezing these new batteries can actually damage them, that is why during the winter it is highly recommended that you do not leave your laptop or cell phone in your car over night. I have read articles online of people who have killed there batteries that way. I would figure out with your model of laptop what the biggest cell battery they hold and then buy one of those.

well, i have about $60 into this laptop as it is. i would like to not put much more(if any) into it, i just want it as a beater. i can get a new battery for $30, but i think i'll pass

i would forget it with the batteries out today. the comment went around about 20 yrs ago. I agree.......it was with the 486 that i remember.
also checked snopes. no results. likely for the old cadium batteries.
