Right resolution

I have just installed a graphics card and can't get the right resolution happening, it is a ATI x1550 AGP, any help would be much appreciated.

I've tried changing the resolution twice I'm not sure what happened but the monitor blacks out and wouldn't come back on even when I restart. I've had to take the card out and un install the software and re-install it twice and the stupid thing still won't work. I read that I had to set my generic monitor as the default monitor but I can't get it down. I tried changing it to a plug and play and still not joy?

Had the same problem a while ago on a client's machine with an FX5500. You need to uninstall all drivers and ATI software, then download the most up to date driver from ATI's website and install it. Dont worry about the other software that came with the card, just the downloaded driver and you'll be fine.

Impulse666, I know poison and would you be surprised to know that after rebooting a few times a windows dialog box popped up stating the problem and if you would like windows to resolve this problem, he clipped yes and it fixed itself (he's running XP). Don’t know if this will be long term, but he D/L the updated files later on and installed them, he’s still asleep now and hasn’t read you’re posting. Go figure???
