ripping music from external source into computer

I have lps and cassetts that I wish to put into my computer. However, win media player does not show any way to do this (musicmatch allowed me to do this in past, but I no longer have that software). I have read that there is a line-in feature for win xp but I have to enable it somewhere in control panel but I cannot find anywhere to do this.

Speaker in system tray (right hand bottom.
right click
Open volume control
Options
Properties
Check 'Line In'.

that might do it.

I dont use windows media player but you may need to use a different program to "record" the music.

I would recomend audacity (google it). Its one of the best free audio editors.
