Rivarts.A Attack!

Bummer, strange just unistalling that program caused that, looks like your only option is to format, but you've only got a restore disc? If you can get a full windows disc the same as your o\s, you can use it with your windows key, should be on the side of your box somewhere.

I have the full Windows XP disk, and its the disk that I used to install the original operating system. I don't know what caused it to crash ... I even went into regedit & removed any reference to "Folder Lock". Nada. Once I started to repair & then got hung up, my fate was sealed. I installed a second operating system to see if I could go in and so anything to the first, but that didn't help. Fortunately, my disks are partitioned, with the operating system & associated files on one partition, my other program files on another partition, and my data files on yet another one. That at least limits the damage that something like this can cause. Now it's the long and tedious job of reinstalling the operating system, downloading the updates, reinstalling the software, etc. etc.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it!:( Oh well, I suppose it's a good idea to recreate your system from scratch evey once in a while anyway.

I do appreciate all of your help though, and it certainly wasn't in vain. I learned a heckuva lot, and I think I'll be in a better position to prevent this problem in the future and, if it does arise, take some basic steps to fix it.

Thanks!!
