Hey all i recently bought a brand new gpu off ebay from a reputable seller.

Now when it arrived the fan was broke completely off.

Will i have to rma it? or should i recieve a replacement from the seller?

If i have to rma it what does this involve exactly? This is the only gpu iv ever bought brand new and the only gpu iv had break :P go figure.

If it is of any help its a 5830 asus directcu

What did the guy say? He should be your first contact. Ask for a refund.

Was it a brand new card in a box? If so, it's a new product and the law should require him to replace it.

It was an ebay company, i rang up on friday but the guy i need is on holiday until monday.

It was brand new, unsealed and all that jazz :p

hopefully they will say theyre going to arrange a collection of the ol done and then send me out a new one.

At this stage the refund/exchange is usually done through the seller.

i hope so, i really do, all i wanted to do was play the bf3 beta with my new gpu atleast once haha.

Like OMEGA said, at this point I would deal with the seller.

can i just ask why this is ?

Im a bit nooby when it comes to brand new computer items, but the general consensus is that if its broke now they should replace it.

Before this thread i thought if you got a dodgy gpu from somewhere you had to rma it to manufacturer?

That said does rma cover breakages like this?

The fan is snapped off its not faulty as far as i know :/

Ill find out for definate on monday but i dont ant this guy trying to dodge a bullet by giving me a new gpu, i want to get what i payed for obviously.

If its still within 30 days I would try to get the seller to replace it. Just make sure he sends you the exact card. Then go with the manufacture. Most of the time going through the manufacture it will take a few weeks to get a replacement.

As far as the fans being broke. If the box was sealed/unopened when your received it you should not have a problem.

Thats good then, there ringing me first thing tommorow morning so hopefully everything will go ok and i will just send this back and get a new one.

If not would i then have to rma it via manfacturer or should i be bale to open a case with ebay about the transaction?

Sorry about all the questions im just crapping myself that im going to have to stick with the 8800gts i have in now :/ (iv already sold the 3870x2 ya see :P)

It's preferred to go through the seller because if they're local, you can go in person and request an exchange for a working card. And being in person has more weight than a phone call or an email or support ticket, and the OEM of the card generally won't cross ship a replacement, and if they're overseas it can take weeks for a replacement.

They rung this morning, they want me to send it back then they will send out a new one, there not reimbursing me for postage which is a bummer but i guess ill get my gpu after all :P

So, i got the new on this morning, and...it was broke, the exact same problem but to a lesser extent :/
