Hello Everybody

I am a long time user of rocket dock. I think it's brilliant. Today my avg 8.5
3 in 1 pack which is fully up to date, flashed up with a virus warning for rocketdock.exe when i tried to install the latest version

w32/sality.ao - security level 4

is it a false positive

Thanks

The obvious reason I asked is that it's a virus that infects ".exe" files and the usual reason is an illegal infected download off a torrent site.

I wouldn't run that program if I were you.

I have problems with w32/sality virus before.
As far as i know, it affects the .exe files, most probably by writing in the empty binary codes of the files. Avira detected a lot of my files with w32/sality when i was battling with viruses. I chose the secure way. Deleted all the infected files and installed a fresh copy from an infected files. Well avira doesnt have the repair option, but i think some AVs have the option to repair the infected file.

I don't think i will use it again. Shame really seemed like a brilliant tool.

I don't suppose anyone knows any alternatives to rockect dock

Thanks for your help, It's most appreciated

I've just downloaded it from Rocket Dock, scanned it and it's clear. The size should be 6.16 MB

EDIT: By the way I scanned it also with AVG 8.5

AVG 8.5 complete internet security comes with a seperate Identity Protection that runs along side avg itself.

It scans all processes running on the machine i think. This is what threw the message up

I hope that was in English LOL

Not sure why yours threw up a virus alert though, was the download identical in size to mine?

EDIT: googling Rocket Dock together with w32/sality.ao shows a lot of people getting this alert so it may well be a false positive
