I'm building a new computer and so far I"vo got the Cooler Master Cosmos s 1100 case, Mod X Stream pro (500 watts) power supply, Intel Core E-8500 3.1 Ghz, Asus P5Q-E motherboard, Western digital 1-TB 7200 RPM HD and Western Digital 500-Gb 7200 RPM HD, Corsair (2X2 GB) DDR 800 memory.

I'm looking now for a video card at around $200.00 street price for HD video editing, I am not a gamer. The computer will have XP installed, I don't know if there are comparability issues with cards in this regard, Remember I'm a Rockie willing to learn.:confused: Suggestions on all components is welcome.

More cores the better, so a Quad would of been best.

I'm going for a 4850 & plan to edit footage from my HG20.

Best go to the avsforum's and look around to get familiar.

For video editing, I'd go with a Quad core, like mentioned above.

The GPU doesn't really matter all that much, it's not rendering too much, so you don't need a rendering card.

If you aren't into gaming, this card would be alright;

See what other people think, also.

yeah im with Danny on this, the 9600 will be more than powerfull enough for your needs. Also i'd say if you can, get quad core.

Thanks for your response, I had chosen the (SAPPHIRE 100256L Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express) Maybe that's too much for editing. I will check the ones you've mentioned here.

I edited HD footage, pure 1080 resolution, on a radeon 9200, and it worked fine.

If you arent doing large 3d rendering type of work, then you wont be needing a workstation card, and any of todays card will be fine.
