ok well i just bought a new raptor hard drive and the connection is different than my old one. my old hdd was a ide and the raptor is an enhanced ata. is there some kinda connection i can get that will change the 40 pin connector into the sata stile or should i just buy a whole new wire?

if your motherboard supports Serial ATA(SATA) then i would get a SATA cable SATA is faster than PATA

how do i know if it supports sata? if it doesnt is there away of getting the raptor hard drive wich inst 40 pin like my old one hooked up?

can someone link me a sata cable from either compusa or newegg that i can use to hook up 2 hard drives like a master and a slave like the ribon cable

sata doesnt have master slave settings sata does it for you
www.newegg.com thel sell sata cables there make sure you buy the correct sata sata cables theres 2 sata150/1 150mbps and sata300/2 which is 300mbps

so thats why theres 2 sata slots? 1s for the master and ones for the slave? id have to buy 2 cables then right?

no, one slot per hard drive. the hard drive runs in its own seperate channel... just plug it in and go, no fiddling around with master and slave... each hard drive has its own single channel.
