Router Disconnecting

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this is my connection or my router but my speed tests are shockingly bad.. I have a D-Link Router, It's connected upto 2 other computers and its setup for automatic connection (when computer switch's on I dont need to connect).

Over the last few weeks my connection or router has been playing up, I keep getting disconnected and the lights on the router go crazy.. I either have to wait 5-10 mins...or unplug the power lead wait 60 secs and put it back in and wait for it to sync again...Then I'm able to use the internet again but 5-10-30mins later it does it again...Grrrrr

Any help?

Thanks

Call up your ISP and see if anything is wrong on their side. Try resetting your router back to factory settings by typically holding down the reset button for 10 seconds.

one your using a d-link router they suck, ive been through every router except linksys ive had a few but fixable problems with linksys,

i would check where the router is in your house, is it close or near a tv microwave, telephone,

does it act up when you use a microwave, cell phone, telephone.

also check the dhcp lease time should be set to 0 which means one day 24 hours

i none of that worked reset it and try it again.

First, try to connect directly to the router, like the config page. Usually it's something like 192.168.1.1 in your browser. If you can't connect to it while it's going crazy, then it's probably a hardware issue. Try updating the firmware and see if that helps. If not, you may need a new one. Typically Dlink's not too bad. I had a switch that lasted a good 4-5 years from them.

I have had the same problem. I bought a new linksys wireless g router when i got my new laptop and it solved all my problems. I like linksys better then dlink.
