i am having issues with the connection signal on the computer which logs on with the wireless adapter and it was recomended i purchase a router. can someone please help me out? what type of router do i need?

Your 2wire modem is a wireless router as well as its a modem/router combo unit. If you are having problems connecting then you should call att for support since its their product. Is wireless turned on in the router? What problems are you having? Can the adapter detect the signal from the router?

you are correct the 2wire modem works as a wireless router but because the computers are in 2 seperate rooms over 20ft apart with multiple walls inbetween the signal is very low and tends to drop out every 45 mins.

I called att about the problem multiple times and the staff would alwase have me change the settings on the wireless connection to no avail. it wasnt until the other day a very helpful staff member realized why i was having issues with the connection and advised me to purchase a router.

so im just looking for any advice i can get about which model is better than others? i was thinking about getting the Linksys WRT54GS wireless router;

I'm at work right now and can't post links but my advice would be to get a stand alone modem that att supports and then either getting the router you have a picture of or the wrt54gl from newegg or tiger direct. You might find setting up a router to a modem router combo unit can be a pain in the butt. You would have to set the modem/router to bridged mode and let the linksys handle the dhcp server and wireless.
