Router/Home Network help, please!

Hello. :)
Right now, me and my family share an Acer Aspire AST650-UP521H with Windows XP.
This weekend I'm planning on buying a Dell computer with windows Vista for me to have in my bedroom.
I do not know if our current computer has a wireless networking adapter thingy built inside it, is there a way of finding out?
And.. How does all of this work? My options of routers/adapters to buy are...

Netgear WGR614 Wireless G Router
Netgear WPN824 RangeMax Wireless MIMO Router
Belkin N1 Wireless N Router
Netgear Wireless N USB 2.0 Networking Adapter

Which of these do you reccomend I buy? I take it if our current computer doesnt have the card in it I'll have to buy the networking adapter as well, right?

So yeah, all of this makes absolutely no sense to me, so if someone could clear it all up that'd be awesome.

Thanks!
Shanelle

in device manager it will list your network cards installed:

right click the my computer icon and then click on properties, then a system information window should pop up. click on the hardware tab and then on the device manager button. expand the network cards section and it will list any wifi card you have installed.

Are those your only options for wireless routers/cards?

I haven't used netgear in a long time, so my opinion would be out dated by them.

Hi,

Okay, I did that. It listed two things.

* 1394 Network Adapter
* Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Is one of those them?

Yes, you will need a router. Either a PCI or USB adapter for your pc. It would be best if you can keep with the same manufacture, however it's up to you.

If you want a wireless N router, you will need a wireless N card also to get the benefits. If not, it'll down you to G. As may of said above, are those 4 the ONLY ones you can get?

your new dell is it a laptop, most laptops now a days have built in wireless cards probably going to be a wireless G, so you may not need to buy one

you will need a wireless router but i wouldnt buy a N router they are still first genaration and not that much better

and how do you like your vista lol

i have one and i try and help some friends out on their computer which r XP and it is so frickn confusing and what anti virus and anti spyware programs do you have on your vista computer
