whenever i leave my computer going for an hour or so, when i come back i have no signal. i can unplug and replug the modem and router, but i can now, with vista, also repair the connection from within the little icon for internet at the bottom right. i want to know why its been having this problem, (ever since i bought it,) and if its fixable. the modem is brand new, replaced after the last one went out, and its a comcast RCA digital broadband model: dcm425c, and the router is a belkin 54G. it is hardwired to my computer, not actually wireless, but it is wireless to another computer in my living room. the internet goes out for both of these computers, but strangely not for my brothers laptop. anyone have any suggestions or opinions?

first, join the club:)

then make sure the firmware for your router is up to date. Our router goes out a lot and ive tried many fixes. Ive just given in to reseting the connection on my computer or unplugging and plugging the router or modem back in.

I had this problem with my Linksys BEFSR41 for a couple of months.
I solved it by disabling DCHP in Windows by assigning static IPs to each PC connected to the router and inserting my ISP's DNS server IPs in my TCP/IP Properties page, and then enabling DCHP in the router setup. It's been rock-solid stable for two weeks and counting ever since. :)
