I'm trying to log into my router to change some settings and update the firmware, but when I try the default "admin" login, but I get the following error..

I can log as a user, but since it's not admin, I can't do crap.. Anyway I can get around this to change my admin info on the router?

hmm not to sure, if this is the router that your ISP gave you then you're gonna have to talk to them, much like me, i cannot control my router.
but i've noticed that some D-Link routers, a simple factory reset solves the problem with the admin password

To reset unplug router and all cables and plug back in. Is the dafault, admin (name) and password (password)?

to reset the router using my lynksis i have to press and hold the button at the back for 10 sec. i'd do that assuming someone messed with your settings.

I unplugged everything and plugged back in, it's still not reset.. I will try the reset button in back to see if that changes anything...

Yeah some routers have the reset button and some you have to unplug to reset. For my netgear and prob other routers you can log onto your router and their is an option to save your settings onto a flash drive. I recommend you try to do so.
