Router Question?

Hi;
Let say that you have your router (wireless) set up already. Can you move it to another location without being attached to a computer and it still works with all the wireless components. But when you try to attach another component to it, it won't show up or try to connect. Wouldn't it have to be connected to a computer to get the IP connection. My Nephew did this. And he will not listen to me. I never done it. He doesn't know computers at all. So that is why I am posting the question.

Thank you
Alien Menace:)

If im reading the question correctly, No if the wireless router is setup you can plug any component into the lan ports and it will work. The router has DHCP server on it so when you plug something into it the router will assign it an ip so it can connect to the internet and intranet.

It was set up on the main computer in the guest bedroom, down stairs. He took it up stairs and plugged in the power only. No CAT 5 into anywhere.
