Router Settings (DHCP) cause slower internet?

Would having a really high DHCP lease time cause slower internet...
Mine came stock at 1 day and i think i changed it to about 5 days. Would this contribute to slower internet? Also the number of users? Its set to 50 (by default, would lowering this help...i have 4 computers)

What other settings may be causing the slower internet?
Ports open?

Wired Linksys btw.

No, it will not slow it down.

However, the number of uses will slow down individual internet speeds as you are dividing up your bandwidth between all active users. Some routers have a QOS (quality of service) setting that will allow you to control how much bandwidth can be devoted to certain process.

Setting it to a higher time wouldn't slow it down, although with a home network it really wont do much of anything in terms of effecting your internet speed. If your internet is running slower then i's suppose to by running speed tests, then restart the modem and router if you haven't done so already.

if you leave the DHCP lease time to 5 days, it just tells your computer to keep that local IP for 5 days, at my house its set to 2 hours to avoid tracking and hacking

If you concerned about it; gather your IP address, subnet mask, defualt gateway, and DNS 1 and 2 information and give all 4 computers local static IP addresses (to do this Open "Local Area Connection", Click "Support", then Click "Details"

Example: Open "Local Area Connection", Click "Properties", Find "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" then Choose "Use the Following IP Address" and Use the Following DNS Servers"

P.S. dont use my DNS servers, they'll only work at my house anyway find yours by using the directions listed above
