See those spikes? It was working fine a few days ago. What can I do?

What router? How far away are you from it? Have you tried rebooting the router? Any new electronics in your home?

Netgear N600 wireless dual band gigabit router. Just in the other room, I did the test above with my laptop right in front of it. Tried rebooting. No new electronics.

This is pretty normal for wireless speeds to be slower. Try moving closer to the router.

Yeah, but not only 20 percent of regular speed. Wireless should only cut your speed by say 25 percent. So you should be getting 18-20 not 5.

He must live in a bunker then, that's pretty bad.

Like I said, it was working fine up until 1-2 days ago. And like I said, that test was right in front of the router.

Click on the network icon in your taskbar while on wireless, then right-click on your network and click Status. What's the connection speed?

Goes from 6-144 Mbps

Now my wireless controller won't connect to my Xbox. I do live in an upstairs condo....and I just moved here last week.

EDIT: Ha it worked! I logged into the router and changed the channel. Now what can I do about my controller?

Has nothing to do with your router. See if you can change the wireless channel on the xbox.
