I am trying to find a good router and i have questions.

Does having a wireless router make the connection between the internet less (like some info gets lost) or does it stll work at 100% just like a wired router.

Also, I have a 3MB Canble connectin.

I am planning on buying either a

or a

I am not sure but i am wondering if i will get my max performance by buying the $55 one or will buying the $75 router increase the connection better than the $55 rouder?

Thanks

First off... accessories from dell are marked up a lot.

To answer your question, wired routers connection will always be faster than a wireless portion of the same router.

those three antana routers are soposed to be equal if not better than wired.

there are only 2 listed...

When they say "supposed" they mean in theory, not for the end user.

You will also need to remember that you will need the special ethernet card they suggest there aswell.

yes they are good, but you would be paying a lot of money (because it is dell, and because you will need a spcieal ethernet card) for something you might not need.

Do you need that speed? or is wireless g 54mbps good enough?

Actually, the price of the routers isn't bad, about $4.99 lower than the standard price and they are Netgear, not Dell routers (I'd agree Trizoy if Dell tried to pawn them off as such). The standard G that you have selected would be fine for basically any application you would need. The coverage area would also be great for any point within about 100 to 150 feet and it would have a maximum bandwith of 54MB (more than adequate). Just check the S&H charge before ordering to make sure that it isn't more than $4.99, because you can get that router for $59.99 at almost any retailer when it's not on sale. On sale they're dirt cheap. I'd actually recommend finding either a Netgear, Linksys or D-Link router that's on sale at a local retailer. Save you money :).

Addressing the wired vs. wireless argument... The only reason to be concerned with bandwith more than 6MB is if you are planning are doing A LOT of network transfers between computers. Which is when the speedboost G would be needed for wireless or just a wired network. Now, the Pre-N or N (coming soon :)) networks do have a very high bandwith, as well as a very large coverage area. Plus, if you get the extension antennaes for the G routers, they will also increase the coverage area of those routers.
