rrgggg help plz laptop wirless network

hello i am having problems connecting to my laptop to the wirless network every time i connect i get dissconected after about 30 seconds and my brother get diss connected if i try to connect i am using a buffalo prigramm 2 connect to the network because the windows connector doesnt have the right encryption avalible here is some ifomation about the hardware i am using etc.

My laptop

Packard bell computer mobile ams athlon xp-m 2400+
i have also got windows xp home edition service pack 1 loaded onto it

DGBIIIG wirless netgear network starter kit and my brother is using the usb adaptor that came with it on his pc and it works fine but he gets dissconnected when i try to connect here is a picture of the router http://nathanhug.googlepages.com/DSC02236.JPG

link set on repeater mode???

password protected??

yep using the encryption wpa-psk tkip 8-63 char

and im only about 10 meters away from the router

does your link have a password on it and have encryption???
 
yes it asks me for a password obviously because it encrypted and i type in my password then it only connects for a maximum of 2 minutes and always dissconnects when i try to open a website
 
I had the same problem a short while ago. Whenever i connected to the Internet after about 2-3minutes i got disconnected for no apparent reason. In the end i found out what my problem was, i was exceeding my concurrent TCP conection. Basicaly the limit for service pack 2 is 10 and wen u exceed the limit it blocks the conection. Anyway my solution was to patch my system to 50 concurrent conection, since then i haven had any problems.
To do this download the english version of the pack and then follow the instruction, restar ur computer and it should work!!!

can you see the laptop sending packets??? Under the wireless status....
