Rt-AC66U major firmware update

The AC68U had an update last week as well, however not as major. I love how often Asus releases updates firmware for their products with bug fixes and new features.

No, it ain't. Do you know what the capabilities of Optware are? And the Asus firmware had a hacker flaw.
Clearly you haven't used the Asus firmware. DD-WRT has more networking features, however overall the Asus has much more built-in functionality than DD-WRT does.

Yeah, the Asus firmware is secure and does everything i need so i don't think ill mess with the warranty on a $400 router.

Clearly you haven't read the wiki on Optware and the DD-WRT firmware. I can block whole countries for example, have a built in VPN and SSH server. I would never trust the AIcloud.

And the Asus firmware has all that and a lot more...

Have you looked into, tried or own the Asus router? If the answer is no, then, really ...

You can do a lot more with Optware... And the firewall is a lot more configurable. I wouldn't trust stock firmware that already has to be patched because of exploits. The AIcloud is vulnerable. And if DD-WRT isn't anyone's pot of tea there are others.
