Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to run an operating system (Windows XP) from a CD-ROM and if so, How would I go about setting it up. Thank you kindly.
it is possible with xp, but you need to use a cut down version
for xp use this http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ , BartPE which makes a iso image, that when burned to a cd is a bootable xp
I have tried the bartPE and it works, pretty quick but basically no features, but i have not yet tried the ME guide, but that site is pretty reliable for other stuff
I would definettly not go with a windows livecd. I doubt there is many features or tools include on any windows livecds (Since, a default XP installation has basically nothing). Go with a linux live cd like knoppix, which has 2 gigs of software on the cd version and 8 gigs on the dvd version. If you have a more dated machine, slax is very fast.
