well here are my temp according to PC Wizard 2006:
Processor Temperature : 38 °C
Mainboard Temperature : 49 °C
Power/Aux Temperature : 52 °C
GPU Temperature : 57 °C
Hard Disk Temperature WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0 : 49 °C
and thats on idle... when i play games the GPU temp gets up to 70 °C and lowers my fps from ~90 to ~35...and i dont like playing at 30fps its too low for me...any ideas on how to cool it? if i get one of those fan slot exhaust should i put it over the back side of the GPU or on the same side as the fan in between my soundcard.

and speed fan:
Temp1:38C
Temp2:48C
Temp3:52C
Temp: 0C
HD0: 49C
Temp1:40C
im guesing the top temp1 is the CPU, temp2 is the mainboard, temp3 is power/aux, i have no idea wats temp, HD0 is of course the HD, and no idea wat the last temp1 is... also how do i control the temp/fans by using speed fan?

thats not very high for a high end graphics card, mine got up to 90 degrees with no problems at all.
does this happen in all games? also, what is the throttle temp of your card (you can find this in the nvidia control panel under temperature.

Yeah, you should be fine. If it really troubles you, you can always check on the manufacturers site regarding operating temps. I hear about people crying about their CPU's or HD's heating up, but it's well under max temps if they consulted Intel's, Hitachi's, or whatever's website.

Should be 115C

also how do i control the temp/fans by using speed fan?
1. It explains in the help really well
2.Goto configure --> speeds .. pick a fan then set the range and check "automatically varied" .. you can goto the temperature tab to adjust which temps affect which fans but you can read the help for how to figure that out yerself
3. Clock Ok or whatever then check "automatic fan speed"

ya happens to all...i play CSS and when it goes down it lags...then in AOE 3 it goes from really smooth to really lagging and same for FEAR and DOD:S.

throttle temp? not to sure wat that is but it says the temp is 56C

Throttle = slowing down
oh ok well ya its 115C

ugh  how do you get 38C? im so jealous:P ... do you have the leadtek that takes up two slots and has that big fan?

also just found out it wouldnt be a good idea getting one of those slot exshaust fans b/c it would cancle out the GPU fan.

Hehe below 34C (so 33 and lower), the last green bar goes away :)

r u kidding me?!?!?!
how is it soo cool? do you have water cooling? and youve got 4HD's right? seesh ..the lowest temp ive gotten is 38C from the CPU and we have the same type of CPU!! everything else is about 50C on idle....wtf?

Air cooling + origami (although the lack of last green bar is pretty neato, didnt expect that to happen at such a high temp lol) ... i tried running Prime95 without any fans on ... CPU rocked itself to 38C lol

origami?

how is that even possible?..no fan and still not that hot...

you got any tips on how to make it that cool for me too?:D

Mine idles at 38*c. Okay,s o its not quite a 7800GTX, but im sure it doesnt have a fan on it half the size as Praetors probably does though.

Folding cables and tying them down with an unhealthy number of cable ties ... so when you look at it you see the computer, not the cabling.

Adopt the mindset of "unless you wanna go water or exotic, silent pcs dont run cold nor fast". Then aim for a few hundred CFM of air to run around your box.

LOL mines only 72mm (ok ive also supplemented the voltage regulators on the VC and the NB cooling with a 60x15 fan ripped of a stock AMD K8 cooler (will upgrade to ~75CFM later, gotta figure out how to mount a 75CFM fan in thin air, the stock AMD dont cause that much vibration)

Currently testing out a "work" profile for my fans
- CPU = off
- Exhaust = two fans at maybe 25-30cfm (estimated of course)
- Intake = off
- NB = 40% max
The only other circulation happening is VC, active cooling ive got on my memory (28CFM) and the AMD stock cooler ive got supplementing my NB

Current tasks involve photoshoping, going maybe 20 minute video transcodes, mp3s, foruming, coding (so id say sustained usage is prolly 35-40% over time)... the sustained temps are:

Dont think im comfortable leaving the CPU fan off permantently yet tho (although ive done that by accident once or twice but never more than a weekend at time)

LOl to actually deal with your problem, 70C isnt that much for the GPU, core tmps will hit that easily with the GTX :) My guess is your problem is elsewhere

kk ill try that and see if it helps

so is your pc loud? i wouldnt mind it being loud(im use to having a loud fan on at night, gets hot in LV) as long as its not unbearable.

was afraid of that...wat "experiments" should do to find the source of fps drop?

I goes from 20db to 60db, i usually like to keep it in the 45-50db range unless im dickin around and turning random fans off and seeing what happens

VC and NB???
videocard, northbridge

Dunno yet, could be anything, start with temps, voltages and memory as a baseline :)
