running memtest

In the process of a new build.

I'll be using an Asus Maximus VII Hero MB with Muskin RAM.
Can I run MemTest off of a CD before installation of drivers and OS?

Thank you

Can I ask why you are running memtest? Usually you don't run it unless you suspect you have memory issues.

You sure can.

This is my 3rd build, with this one I'm doing all on my own other than getting help from everyone on this forum. The guy who helped me before believed always thought that if you Ram was no good out of the box, now would be the time to find out. I'm just going along with what I've done on the other two builds.
I know that you're thinking it's just an unnecessary step, and I'm sure that you are right, being 99% of Ram out of the box is just fine.

So you're answer to my last question is that it's fine just to do the 2 sticks by themselves and move on with my build.

Thank you for your concern.

I've heard that sometimes running the test on 2 sticks at the same time will cause errors while running 1 at a time won't. But like you said, 99 percent of the time ram is fine. Usually you can tell ram is bad when you try installing windows and files won't copy to the drive.
