Running Multiple Windows or Instances

I'm trying to run 100 instances of Firefox (if possible) all streaming something on their own IP Address. I know how to do it and I have the instances of Firefox already created but my computer can only handle 4 at a time (slow ram on an 09 MacBook Pro)... Is it possible for a computer to handle 100 instances all running simultaneously? I'm willing to buy any computer that can run something like that. Let me know if that many instances is a possibility

Yes, I believe it is. You would probably need 64 GB of RAM and an solid state drive (SSD) as a boot drive for the best performance. A half-decent CPU, power supply and a motherboard that can run it all. I'm not sure if a video card is important. But if you plan on gaming too, buy a GPU

Is there anything in specific I can buy? Like I said before I want to buy 2-3

This is for one computer;

RAM: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A14ZT8S/?tag=bom_tomshardware-20&ascsubtag= Fast DDR3 RAM, buy one set of 32GB.

SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W02CZ2241 If all you plan on doing is running these web browser tabs on this computer this will help it open and run quickly. Not really needed, but will boost performance a bit. Basically less loading time.

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128710

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G3RH8013&cm_re=I3-4170-_-19-117-543-_-Product The cheap i3-4170 (probably all you need)

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127763 Not sure if you need it, but here you go.

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139048 You probably don't need much more than this.

And just buy any $50 case.

Someone a lot more experienced can probably help more, but I think this will work. I tried my best to make sure everything was compatible with each other.

Can you do some research to see how much RAM you would need to open all these tabs? I've never had to open that many tabs before, if you don't need 64GB of ram you can save a fair bit of money on the CPU, motherboard and the RAM itself.

Edit: I just opened a bunch tabs on google chrome (over 50 youtube, facebook and twitch tabs) and it only took 5GB of ram so you probably don't need 64GB of RAM, I will edit this in a moment.

Edit2: Alright, done, $350 cheaper and a better GPU for the price. I can re-post the other build if you REALLY want it.

Thanks SO much. I'll take the advice and buy the stuff but is there any way I can buy a computer that's already built? Because I want to buy 2-3 computers with the 64gb etc. I just don't want to spend thousands of dollars on each

I honestly don't believe you need the 64GB, and if you do its around $400 more for each pc, so they would be $1000+ pcs. I personally just opened about 70 tabs (youtube, facebook, twitch) with 8gbs of ram and it only took 5gbs. I think you could open roughly 350-500 tabs with 32gbs and the better RAM. I had 0 issues opening and loading the tabs and your pc is only a few parts different than mine, which won't matter I don't believe. (Only different parts are the GPU, motherboard, and your CPU and RAM are better than mine)

As for the building part, I highly doubt you'll be able to find a PC like this already built. Your best bet is to find someone who can do build and pay them a few dollars.

On second thought, you may need a better CPU, for only $70 extra you can't go wrong http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116991 This CPU is even better than mine. You won't have any issues.

Glad I could help. Not sure what I'm helping with exactly, but no problem.

I'm asking this ..
I want to stream a song Simotaneously 200 times on 200 tabs. But instead of tabs I have made 200 Firefox browsers each running on their own IP.

What speed of a processor do I need to get that can take that much. If I could do more than 200 im willing. I was thinking about just renting a virtual server as the guy above said. But what type of processor/ram would I need? Because a regular 2.3 definitely wouldn't work

OK so I just loaded up Chrome and duplicated a tab running a YouTube video about 70 times (got bored of right clicking, 'Duplicate').

I have an i7 and 32GB of RAM. Task Manager said that Chrome was only using about 200MB of my RAM even with all of those tabs opens. CPU didn't seem affected. However, the pages crashed - probably because of my internet speed (30mb down/5mb up so not bad but maybe not enough to stream at least 70 videos at once?)

I think 32GB of RAM would probably be overkill for you. Maybe try 16 at first?

No idea if this is helpful for you or not!

Chrome was only using about 200MB of my RAM

Are you sure you weren't just looking at a single chrome process? It usually spawns out a multitude that suck up a good chunk of RAM each.

Also you'll get different behavior between duplicate tabs and tabs with different content.

OK so I forgot to look at the individual processes. So I did it again (fewer tabs though, I think, too lazy to keep duplicating them but still a stupid number) and actually the CPU is hit a little but only up to about 40% utilisation and I'm still using under 7GB of my 32GB system memory and my system idles at about 5-6GB.

Might be different for individual content, depends what it is, but I think your internet connection will have an impact.
