Is it possible to run Serial ATA alongside normal IDE drives and if so how can this be done please?

Thanks very much.

Yes it can, you simply plug in the IDE and SATA drives, just make sure to set in BIOS which hard drive to boot from.

Hi Geoff. thank you. The trouble I am finding is that the drive is not recognized? I have it set to cable select (No pins) at present. Any suggestions please?

Many thanks.

at what stage is it not recognised. Is it recognised in bios, but not in windows? In that case it may be that the drive has not been formated

Hi Apj.

The drive has information on it and I was hoping to keep that? However it is not recognized in Bios or Windows.
thank you Apj

do you have the power connected to the HDD?
( last time i sawpped a harddisc, i was looking why it didnt see the drive, then i found out the power cable wasnt connected to the drive :P )
anyway.. you may want to set the Harddisc as Slave, and look if it recognizes the drive then. :)
