Running software from a remote computer

I would like to run a program that is on my computer at home while at work. I would need to use my work computer to access my computer at home and run the software. I can't load the program on my work computer because of company policy. So is this possible?
 
Isn't that basically like your mom tells you that you can't eat dessert before you finish dinner so you go to your friends house and eat dessert there?
