Good day to all who may read this. I am having some issues with our family pc, a couple of days ago we smelt an electrical burning smell coming from the computer.since, the monitor has been stretched, I am very basic basic around computers but mechanically inclined, I have cleaned every component and looked for burnt resistors and capacitors, I see nothing.. I believe my problem resides in the video card (ASUS AGP-V3800M/32m) can some one Shed some light on this and possibly help with the possible diagnoses, let me know if you need model number.?

Ca,

If you can't change the resolution of the screen and updated drivers don't help, then the card is probably bad.

Wow, that's an Nvidia TNT2, from way back in 1999. What you said about the burning smell leads me to believe that something on it has fried. Probably a surface mounted ceramic capacitor (basically the little brown rectangle things), and they are hard to spot if fried.
