SA problem

just got my SA today, tryed 2 install it and i got this error, whats this mean? and how can i fix it?:

Yes this error is what you get when the drive is unable to read the disk. Was it a new game? scratches? Perhaps your drive needs to be cleaned if the disk is OK.
 
CD is used...what r some tricks 2 try 2 get scratches out? theres really nothing wrong with it, it's not like it got trampled or anything, just has 1 mild-moderate scratch on it, this is frustrating, i bought it from ebay, and this is the 1st time i been ripped off, what can i do bout this?
 
There are CD scratch repair kits that you can pick up at any office supply or electronics store that should repair the disc enough to use.
 
try the toothpaste trick, now i cant even get the CD 2 be read...

do they rreally work? wouldnt soap do the same?
 
What toothpaste trick? There are little kits that try to smooth out the disc scrath so that it can be read. Check out Best Buy, Circuit City or something similar, they should have something to fix it up...
 
yeah, well it's in a better place now, my trash can :cool: lol...

but thanks 4 helping me, im getting a new SA tomm...

didnt know they were $14.95 at Eb Games brand new lol, would've went there 1st...
 
The toothpaste trick is suppose to help, I've seen it demonstrated on the web somewhere. It has been going around as a viable way to repair "minor" scratches on optical disks for a few years now. Nothing is going to work as well as the kits you can pick up though.

Anyway it is a shame you bought a game that was damaged, ya learn from your mistakes though.
 
ok, im gettin a bit frustrated wit SA, i went through 2 SA's today, and a DVD-ROM, returned them because i thought they were bad, both of the SA copies were used, i just got a brand new 1, the 2nd copy, the 1 after the copy i got from ebay was used, was supposed 2 be brand new but wasnt, and i got a new DVD-ROM because i thought it was bad, not the case either...

maybe the game didnt install all the way or something?

when i start SA, on the loadin screen, it gets 2 half way, then stops, is this normal?

earlyier i let it run 4 like 5-10 min. and still no progress..

But was your problem not installing the game? how could a patch aid in installing the game?

I have been under the impression that the game was not installing onto your PC.
 
the 1st CD i had DIDhave something wrong with it, the brand new 1 installed all the way, just when i wanted 2 start playing it, at the loadin screen, it would get half way, then freeze, the patch fixed it....

im running it at Low settings, and it plays great lol, graphics are still really good...

i downloaded some mods, i used SAMI, San Andreas Mod Installer, i did the custom namin thing 4 the car, that doesnt show up when i jump in the car, and most of the cars i install dont show up in the game, and it says they were successfully installed, why is this?

also, is there a way 2 make a vehicle mod really sound like that car? like the Honda CRF 450, thats 4-stroke, and it replaces the Sanchez, which is 2-stroke, is there a way 2 make the CRF sound realistic?

EDIT: fixed the error message, had 2 download another updated version of MP..

anybody have any answers 4 me? i tryed registerin 2 1 of the GTA forums, forgot which it is, but i never got the activation e-mail...
