Hi, my little brother i think has been downloading things that he isn't supposed to do on his pc, he is using Bit Comet. Is there any way that i can delete a file or chnge a setting so that it will appear to him that it just wont work, because if i have a go at him and remove the program he will just reinstall it, or another like azeurus, please im open to suggestions, thanks.

I dunno im sorry,

Although if you only use one account (Administrator)on your computer for all your family what you could do is Uninstal bitcommet and re-install it and launch the application.

If you have a firewall such as ZoneAlarm it will ask if you want to accept or block the connection to the internet from that particular software.

Just block it and click on do not ask me this again.

Then hopefully when he tries to search for something to download nothing will show because the connection has been denied.

May work,May not but worth a try.;)

If he is a noob.
you can limit the download speed to 1 kb
or limit the number of connections and connected peers.

mess around with options.

i was thinking if i blocked some ports then it wouldn't work. He wouldn't know how to reverse that and the bit comet would't connect to any peers or seeders, anyone know what ports bit torrent uses and where to block some ports?

Thanks for the replies.

the ports can be changes, and blocked ports will only prevent inbound peers connecting, you could still download.
You may be able to config the firewall on the machine to block the application, but that easy to by pass. And he could just install another torrent client

If you have a router, block the ports and the BitComent in it's firewall settings. I'm not sure if this is on all routers, but it works here on a linksys wrt54gs.
