Safe mode?

Is there a free antivirus that will install in safemode? I have a client with 100gigs of stuff on his hdd and i need to install antivirus on it to clean off a virus he has he was using avg but it was disabled by the virus over 3 months ago and he didnt know it.. Now i can only access safe mode becuase regular windows wont boot even after 2 chkdsk/r and scandisks any suggestions?

yea it will not install in safe mode it says something about cannot start the service or something..

i need one that will install in safe mode

codeman0013, you can try booting into Safe Mode with Networking, and running an online virus scan via http://housecall.trendmicro.com/.

You can also try running Stinger: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Alternatively, you can remove the hard drive from the infected computer and install it as a slave drive in another system. You can then scan it from there.
