Safe temps for pc gaming

So recently getting more into pc gaming, upgraded my gpu to a 970 twin frozr, curious what temps are safe limits for gaming on pc

My cpu & gpu hit around 60c running construction sim @ 4k, on speccy above 60c the temp colour changes to an orange shade which i assume means temps are getting quite high

MSI Afterburner is probably what you want.

60oC is nothing for graphics cards. You've got plenty of headroom. My 390 at full load and with a voltage bump and overclock doesn't ever crack 75oC, usually low 70's, and it's safe up to 85oC I think

Cheers Darren, I downloaded Afterbruner and gives me much more info, set it to display cpu,gpu tmeps & fps overlay, only slight problem with is it doesn`t seem to be up to date for 4k, when i set the overlay to bottom left corner it`s actually nearer the middle of the screen

You may have to adjust some numbers in the settings to get the overlay to work in 4k res.

The overlay does work but seems limited to 1080, so on my 4k tv, if i try to place it in bottom right corner it ends up close to the middle instead, not a huge problem, just on construction sim the top & bottom left corners have info & mini maps.

Any idea what i could try in afterburner to try and get the overlay right into the corner ?

I have a spare 1080 monitor I can use, never run multi monitor before.

1. Can i connect a 1080p via displayport & my 4k tv via hdmi, how can i run 2 different res from 1 gpu at the same time ?

All lappys run hot.

Running multiple monitors at different resolutions is fine, Windows screen resolution management from the desktop handles it. From left to right I run a 20" 1600 x 900 via DVI, 24" 1080p via HDMI, and a 25" 1440p via DisplayPort. No problems.

Thanks all a pleasant surprise, I didn`t have to touch or configure anything windows set both screens to maximum native resolution, it is much more convenient to have 2 monitors extended I can have many more windows open at once without shrinking them way down.

The only time resolution is restricted is if you want to stretch/clone the desktop across screens, then windows pulls the overall resolution to the lowest of the display`s.

Yup. It's super easy. Windows 10 also made a noticeable difference in ease of use over 7 in terms of managing multiple windows over multiple screens. I can't live without 2 screens anymore. Hell even not having 3 kind of irks me.

I've always wanted to run 3... but my table has no room. :(

You need one of these :D https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Monit...468483197&sr=8-1&keywords=three+monitor+mount

I ran two monitors for a while and loved it. Great for gaming/streaming or multi-tasking in general. I'll probably pick another one up when school starts..

I think we're a little sidetracked too lol :P
