Hey all,

I was just wondering if it is safe to use Asus rampage 3 "cpu level up" profiles to overclock my 980x? it has a 4.0 ghz setting and a 4.5 ghz setting. i know about the temp heads up.. but i just wonder if it knows what to do? like it won't overkill the voltage? etc

thanks!

I would recommend doing it manually, its much more fun, and the Level up feature always overestimates the voltages needed, using more power and getting higher temps. Push it slowly, and remember to use the lowest possible voltage that's stable.

the problem is i ahve no idea what i'm doing when overclocking lol is there a website that breaks everything down? or youtube vid? thanks!

so i've messed around with the settings...OC the 980x to 4ghz on my stock cooler the highest temp i have is 95*c... that's running prime 95... u think this is decent enough with out going to upgraded coolers.... i don't do much where it would require full loads on my cpu... mainly some games

thoughts suggestions?

Woah 95c is really too high. These chips are rated for a maximum temperature of 80c while operating.

Before you go any further, I'd revert back to stock settings, and buy a good aftermarket cooler. You're going to need it.
