Safely Remove Hardware Icon

For some reason, the safely remove hardware icon is showing up in the system tray, and the device it is asking me about removing is my internal hard drive. This icon just showed up and I don't know why it is there. Especially asking me if I want to disconnect my hard drive.
Any Ideas?

By right clicking on the task bar and choosing properties you can go into the customize option and set any icons in the system tray to always show, hide when inactive, or always hide. That would be one way to keep it out of sight and out of mind. You could try refreshing drivers for the SATA controllers.

If you have an nVIDIA chipset, you can go into regedit and edit the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\nvata

Add DWORD DisableRemovable, set the value to 1 and reboot.
