Same brand with SLI?

This is a pretty dumb question, but I've heard it go both ways, so I cant be sure.

With a 7600GS, if you want to SLI them, do you need to buy the same brand, or just the same model card? I know with the G80 any make will do, but im not sure as to the requirements with the 7xxx series.

I have an Asus 7600GS 256MB card, which goes for $103 on Newegg, but I can find cheaper 256MB 7600GS's for around $89.

past the geforce 6 series any brands can be mixed,. my cards are 1 MSI and 1 Asus card. (maybe now oyu can mix the 6 series too,. not sure about that.. but when i bought my 6800GT, you couldnt)

You can pair cards as long as they are the same GPU, they can have different memory size and speeds and still work. By the way the 7600GS is G73, not G70.

I agree. There's no need for C2D&G80 system right now. Mayber this time next year...

Probably, once an 8800 costs alot less.

And i've actually decided not to get another 7600GS, because there are actually alot of games that dont take advantage of SLI, and games that do only show a few fps improvement.

I guess i'll just wait a while and then buy a better card.

Any chance you'd sell your 7600GS? That way you could upgrade. If you will, PM me. I maybe interested.

If I do it wont be for a while probably, I got some expensive car repairs to pay and dont want to spend more on a new card.
