Same IP Address for PS3 and PC with Router Confusing me???

Hello,

Im not terribly technically minded, hence why Im on this site.

I have purchased a good Belkin wireless router. I have wireless broadband plugged into it and its supplying by cable my PC and wirelesly supplying my PS3.

Problem is they are both running on the same IP address. It was the only way to get them to work and Im not fully sure what an IP address is other than its the ID of my computer.

Only one can run at a time. Having both on kills the connection to either.

How do I overcome this?

Folder,

Welcome to the forums!!

Did you assign the IP address to the play station or did the router? What is the address?

If you set the address have you tried to set one of the addresses to the next address? For example: If the address for the computer is 192.168.1.2 the next address would be 192.168.1.3

Let us know what you find.

See if you can assign the PC a static IP... As said above "192.168.1.2" and the sequence continues. Don't set as 192.168.1.1, that is your routers LAN IP.
