Same old question

I need a new laptop and I have NO idea where to even start looking.

I have the typical requests, cheap as possible but best available.

Here are the things I need to be able to do on it;

1. use google.docs including spreadsheets (tho office would be better so I can look at things that are by others who have Microsoft.)
2. Play Warcraft 3
3. Play Minecraft (relatively heavily modded)
4. The usual Surf the interwebs.
5. Need to have an HDMI out
6. Be able to run Baseball Mogul http://www.baseballmogul.com/games/baseball2016.html
7. Be able to run Steam (including OOTP) http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/out-of-the-park-baseball/

I guess 600-700 is absolute max.

I am trying to keep it around 400 or so TBH. I have been saving up, knowing that I would need a new laptop as mine is failing. (Acer Aspire 7741z)
I added 1 2 gig stick of RAM to it that if needed could be moved into a new laptop or the 4 gig one that's in there could move as well but I am sure they will be "obsolete" by what you guys can help me find.

Buying used is your best bet imo. Probably a used thinkpad (sandy bridge) t520 but u would get a quadro not Gtx. Another option is a used gaming laptop because it loses value very fast

Is there a good place to look in general? New OR used is there a place to look for stuff? Like on Amazon for example you can narrow down how much ram or how big an SSD, etc.

Sorry for not answering sooner, with 700 max you can get a decent Asus or Lenovo. No need to go used. I'll look at the specs needed for your games after work. Where are you buying from?
