Alright i have a problem wtih my computer that i was building for my parents' work. What'll happen is that the computer will start up, start running the windows disk, and then it'll shut off the fans and the screen'll go black. Also i have to hold down the power button for a couple seconds to fully turn it back off, because it still has the power button lit up. I've tried replacing the MoBo (i had an RMA that came Thursday). Someone before told me that i could be cooling to the CPU, which would be more money to get a new one, but could it also be the RAM?
I'm going to try putting it's RAM in a different slot, but if I would need to try out a different stick, then i would want to see what you guys say.

The system is:
Case:

Disk Drive(not sure if this would be the problem):

and i'm trying to load Windows XP Pro

Ty for all the help

If computer starts and the screen shows anything, the RAM propably is working fine.It might a overheating problem, check if the cpu fan is working.

You have sata 1.5 slot and a sata 3.0 drive on W/D drives you have to put a jumper on the second from the left pins so it will run in sata 1.5, other than that if the fans shut down and everything, might be a bad P/S

Alright i'll check the sata and CPU Fan.

I'm sure the PSU is fine, i build a computer with the exact same stuff in it, and it worked, so i put that in the one that doesn't, and it did the same thing.

BTW, i'm using the PSU with the case

CRAP! I just tried to take off and put back on the CPU fan, and now i have the stuff all stuck together in the middle and around the cpu, because i tried to turn it a little also and i had troubles ><. On the box it says not to touch the thermal paste on the heatsink, and now it's now all screwed up. Can i just get it all and put it in the middle, or should i take it all off and get more thermal paste? (btw after this i will never buy another intel for the rest of my life! it's taken me like an hour to figure out how to put on the hitsink in the first place! >O), Also if i try and boot it up with the paste like this, will it screw up my computer?
last thing, i got a little on my hand, should i just wash it off normally?

It should be ok to boot, just go in your BIOS and check your temperatures. Just use a little bit of soap and the thermal paste should wash off.

so should i try and take the paste off, and get more? the stuff that comes with the Fan is stick, i expected thermal paste to be more liquidy. Could i try booting with it off/no heatsink? Because i think thats my problem in the first place
