Samsung 850 EVO 500GB Drive

Hello All,

I am trying to buy a secondary drive to install games/apps on and was leaning towards the 850 EVO since its on sale lately for $190.

There are articles about a speed decrease over time and stuff, do I need to worry if i am not using this drive as a secondary and not a boot up?

Any information is appreciated. Thank you.
 
Do not use an ssd drive as a secondary drive. There is hardly any performance increase from using at a second drive. Ssd drives should be used for boot drives only. Use a mechanical had for your second drive.
 
atm my primary drive is some old Intel 430 or 520 series drive. I bought a Samsung 840 Pro 256 last year and I am planning to use that as my primary.

As johnb35 stated that there is no difference in between SSD and mechanical HD as a primary drive. Maybe I'll just buy a WD Blue 1TB for $45
 
Yeah, since you already have SSD as primary, for the secondary you might as well just use the same/less cash into something with much higher capacity.
 
Great! Thank you guys for answering my questions before I make a stupid move buying an SSD for a secondary drive thinking it would boost the loading time and such when games installed on that drive.

Fo sho. There's a small boost in some titles but it's definitely not worth the cost premium (maybe a second or two when loading a level like in CSGO, for example).
