Hey guys,

The battery of my Samsung galaxy s5 is leaking. In the inside of the phone at the back there is this brown sticky part. There are 2 of them. The battery is also sticky. The phone is 2,5 years old. Is this dangerous? Can I still use it?

Are you sure the battery is leaking and something just didn't get spilled on it? If the battery is truly leaking then the acid may have gotten down inside the components and I would not use it.

There has been a spate of Samsung phones batteries catching fire recently. This was, reported as, affecting Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge even so if there was evidence of leaking inside my Samsung phone I would get rid of it. In fact I did my A5 battery started to bulge and it is buried four feet down in a hole at the bottom of my garden.
