Anyone have any Samsung HD success stories?

Ive had been getting a lot of bad SEagate and WD drives in latley.Seems like 1 out of every 3 are bad.

Ive gotten 3 samsungs in just the past week and all of them were great.

Anyone else having the same issues with SEAGATE and WD and gone to Samsung?

the only drives i have problems with are maxtor. others have been good. the samsung is surprisingly quiet and generates the least amount of heat compared to other drives i own. i'll reserve judgement on the samsung for now though

I've had lots of problems with WD the last few years. The one i have now, i bought about a year or so ago, every now and then it will click and then stop. I also have a Samsung drive which is very quiet and have had no problems. The only thing i don't like about the Samsung is that it only has a 1 year warranty. Its the SP2504C 250 gb SATA 2.

Just to update.

IF your not using the Samsung utility tool for formatting the HD you are really missing out.I used it to format two new HD.Took about 2 min where Widows takes about 30 min to format.

Most of the other manufactures have a similar tool.I am going to start using them from now on.

Did I mention that I really like the samsung line?

I have a samsung spinpoint t series 500gb hard drive I bought oem off of newegg and it's great. It's quiet and I've had no problems whatsoever with it.

Yeah,I got the 750 gb one.Wow the room.I backed up about 300 gb worth of stuff from 5 different HD I had here and still have LOTS Of room left. The 750 gb was only $25 bucks more than the 500gb so I went for that.

I have two 500gb WD open box HD that I got from Newegg for $59 dollars each.I have no clue what I am going to use them for.

They make for fabulous paperweights. They're also pretty good for resting your coffee on or using them for traction on an icy day.

Other than that they're quite useless.

I usually buy WD and are well served by them, but my Compaq came with an 80gb Samsung back in '03, and it still serves well. The only drive that I actually had die was a Maxtor.

I actually just bought a samsung!! It's 750gb and 32mb cache!! I love it!! Files transfer so fast. I bought it b/c my stock seagate 320gb just was not enough space and was kinda slow!! The only thing i dont like about the samsung is that it is way louder than my seagate but I dont hear it b/c my music and all my case fans. LOL

And Samsungs are usually quiet as heck.

Had maxtor at one time but they all went wrong, seagate i find are reliable but noisy, wd larger drives go wrong, but since having samsung had no probs at all, latest reports show the samsung 750gb and 1tb are faster at loading crysis than a raptor, impressive
but for me now its samsung
