You need to post some links or specs really, but this is what I run CS3 on:

1.6Ghz Centrino dual core
2GB RAM
Integrated graphics (Intel 945GM) - not that this matters with photoshop.
15.4" widescreen

The only thing that I find an issue is the screen size, although I don't use it too much so I went for the portability of the 15.4" over a larger screen.

Hope that helps, Doug.

ooops my bad, forgot to post specs.

The nc20 has a differnet chip to yours, but hopefully the 2gb ram should do the trick.

i have posted specs in my original post

If your going to be doing a lot of photoshop then I would advice you to invest in an LCD screen. You can always leave that at the place where you use it the most and then you have a large screen and still the portability. You can get a reasonable screen for under £100 nowdays.

It will do it all, just take somewhat longer!

taking a screen is well out of the question, i will be backpacking for 18 months around asia, living out of, obviously, a backpack.

I can only just about justify to myself to take a laptop just on its own.

Ye i dont do too much editing, just sharpen, crop, tweaks curves levels etc.

No rendering or anything.

I think ill invest in one

It won't be fast, but it will run Photoshop. Not a bad choice for backpacking. The Samsung NC series get great battery performance.

ye im not too bothered if its slow, ill have plenty of time to wait when im on a bus for 20hours a pop.

Ye the battery life is the deal breaker here.

I was going to get a acer 2930 but with only 2 hours battery life i would need to carry around 3-4 batteries.

I'm just curious: How are you planning to recharge while on the road/backpacking?

I understand regarding the Acer 2930. Was that 2 hour battery life with the 6-cell battery?

I will recharge it when im in the hostels at night and use when im on the trains travelling between cities.

yes 6 cell battery
