Samsung SH-S223F won't read burned DVD's

Hey,

I recently bought a Samsung SH-S223F which crashes explorer when it tries to read a foreign burned DVD (:o). Will upgrading the firmware fix this problem? It is currently runnin SB00 and Samsung just released SB02 which brings me to the next problem where my new system doesn't know what to do with the .exe file - it says it doesn't know what it is so I can't use the downloaded firmware.

I found the driver at the Samsung electronics site - http://samsungodd.com/Eng/

What to do?

Hopefully this isn't all a wild goose chase. Thanks for the help.
 
I got the DVD in Thailand and some of the DVD's I got there work and some of them just won't read and explorer crashes and has to restart
 
So yeh, don't really think region is the problem? My computer just doesn't know what to do with the .exe file form the samsung site - it keeps asking me to find a program to help it to open and microsoft can't find an appropriate program through the net. Any ideas?
