Samsung SW-248F audio skipping

With some of the audio CDs I've made recently, my Samsung SW-248F has been having some problems. First couple tracks are fine, but the next will have some skipping which will get progressively worse until some of the tracks can't even start. It'll get a little better, and by some of the later tracks, everything is fine. This has happened with ~3 of the last 15 audio CDs I've made.

Has anybody else had any issues with this? Got a diagnosis? Any help would be appreciated muchly.

BTW, running Windows XP Professional, burning with Nero 6. Athlon XP 2400+ w/ 768 MB memory.

How's the audio coming though? Is it using the analog cable, or is it digital? Does your drive have the option to plug headphones into it? If so, try that and see how it plays. You might have to find another player to be sure it's all analog.

I'm just wondering because even my machine has skipped some with certain disks and digital playback. I'm still not totally sure what it is, but it's a fairly common problem I've had. The player does seem to have a lot to do with it. And I don't just mean if it's digital or analog playback.

Are you referring to an audio cd or mp3 cd (probably not relevant). Have you checked the disk readability (eg with cd/dvd speed, scan disc test). Crappy media? Sony's new rootkit to destroy all non-Sony music (just kidding)?

Well, I checked the CD in two different vehicles, but haven't gotten any different results. So, it appears that it's not a player problem.

I'm using imation CD-R's. I don't really know too much about disc quality. I've never had a problem with these discs in this burner before.

Nero is writing disc images just fine, so I don't think it's a problem with Nero. At full load, the PSU has problems keeping up with the rest of the components, but I usually don't run anything else while burning. Haven't updated the firmware, yet. The drive's about 3 years old, and I can't have burned too many more than 300 discs, so if it's just the burner failing, I'll be pretty disappointed.
