sanding down a heatsink?

I have a small Heatsink on the motherboard (dunno if its CPU or motherboard.. lets just say its a motherboard) It's already pretty small.. But it gets in the way of my graphics card.. so I just bought a new GTS 450 and it goes halfway in because it's stuck to this heatsink. I could take the plastic off of the GTS 450 but then I don't know if that would help, and I'd void the warranty.. what should I do?

I'll take a picture of my actual motherboard tomorrow! - with the GFX card slightly in, because it doesn't go all the way in..

You could remove some of the plastic, but you would have to seal it to maintain proper air flow. You could also cut off some of the pins, but you would need to somehow move more air accross that heatsink so compensate because it wont cool as well.

The only thing i could say is try and get one of those Enzotech SLF-1 Pure copper Low Profile Cooler OR something very similar.

Should be small enough for the Graphics card to pass over the top,Cant really tell from that pic how high the stock cooler is. :/
