Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade from my HD4670 and I think I have landed on a ATI 4890 but the only cards that I can find that are in my price range are these two Sapphire cards.

I'm hesitant to buy one of these with a lot of bad reviews on the first one and only one review on the second. Does any one here have any input on these two cards??? Anyone have one of these two?? I'm just not sure I wanna mess with trying to RMA something if I get a bad card.(which after reading those reviews seems pretty likely.....)

I could go with a better brand 4870 or a GTX 260 Core 16 for the same price or a little cheaper but I'd sure like to get the more powerful 4890 if I could.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for a card in the $150-200 range feel free to let me know.

Thanks for any input,
Mike.

Sapphire is a great brand. not as good as XFX or EVGA but sapphire is good.

Also, wait till the 5000 radeon series cards are available in stores and online. Then prices on the 4000 series will drop, with the previews i've seen of the 5000 series.

Thanks for the info.

Are there any "guesstimates" as to when they will be released and what the prices will be??

I'm all for saving money but I'm not sure I wanna wait.

Well I guess I'll wait untill the 22th since that appears to be the release date for most of them.:)

i agree with funky on this one, sapphire are better i think, and evga don't make ati cards, only nvidia, if you were to go high end nvidia, yea they are better, but in this case, they are useless :P

not just the card itself but i have heard the customer support offered by saphire is better than xfx!

I going to have to go with XFX as I bought a sapphire 4850 a month ago and it was DOA. There costumer service didn't even wont to help me they where just trying to get me off the phone as fast as possible. Same thing happened when I bought another sapphire 4850 the month before that. I bought a XFX 4870 about a week ago it wasn't working so I called XFX and they where very nice I tried to talk me through some trouble shooting I ended up RMAing it. I don't that sapphire is a bad brand but imo XFX is much better. Also XFX comes with a 2 year warranty.

I've never had a bad experience with Sapphire, when i had a driver issue they were great, and when i had a fan go out on an old X800GTO they were quick and best of all everything was free.
