Sapphire radeon 6870 post beer error

Hi all

I just upgraded my 4870 to a 6870 for battlefield 3. Any way I'm getting a series of beeps. It almost sounds like 1 long and 3-4 short with a 10 second pause followed by 1 beep.

Ive read that psu could be a factor but it's less then a year old.

My set up is
Cooler master 1000w silent pro
Asus m3a32 MVP delux amd 790 chipset
8gig DDR 2
atholon x2 6400 3.2ghz
 
You do have both 6pin pci express power connectors attached correct? I would try resetting the cmos and reinserting the card.
 
Yes both six pin connectors are connected and I reset CMOS. I also put the card in different pcie slots I had 4 x16 slots on my board
 
I would think your 1000 watt psu (even though its way overkill) would be sufficient to power the 6870. You might want to try a different video card. Thats the only thing I can think of at this point.
 
I got a good deal on the psu. I was also Plaiing on running crossfire at one point so I went with a beefy psu. It's modular though does that make any difference? Also is there any incompatibility with my mobo?
 
Shut the computer down pulled the old card out. Put the new one in plugged it in. Wouldn't boot. Put the card in another spot. Wouldn't boot. Put the old card back It booted. Uninstalled the old cards drivers. Pulled the old car out. Put new card in. Wouldn't boot Swore. Reset bios. Wouldnt boot Really swore. Angrily put old card back in and put new card back in box
 
Get a replacement or refund, its most likely a bad card. I have the XFX version of the same card and its works great, try them instead.
