Sapphire x850xt...any good?

yes im talking about the MEMORY clock speed. my bad for not clarifying..

The x1900XT may have a memory speed of 1.45Ghz, but the x850XT has a memory speed of 1.08Ghz, so it's not an earth shattering difference.

The x1900XT/X is also a much more expensive card (more then twice the price). So for around $150, the x850XT is a great card.

So would you recommend this card omega?

Ok I think I'll go ahead and get that and maybe some more ram on friday or so. Why would you recommend it? Have you heard good things or have you ever had one?

I can tell you some. I have the card and i love it. It has 256mb of vram, 256bit interface, 16 pipelines, decent clock speeds and a good stock cooler. I can play BF2 maxed out, farcry maxed out with 150FPS,oblivion on high, GRAW maxed out, BFV maxed, AoE maxed and some other games. I am going to get FEAR and see how the x850xt handles. And for $120, its a great deal.

I just upgraded from an x850xt pe to the x1900xt. The x850 was great and it was just able to run bf2 on full settings. I still have my x850xt pe its a little better than the x850xt. Ill sell it to you for 160 shipped.

I would highly recommend it.

I've had many similar cards; x800GTO, x1600PRO, 7600GS, x850XT PE. And the x850XT PE is the absolute best out of all of them.
Not to mention the most expensive :)

It's only $169 new on newegg!

Actually it wasnt, since I have the AGP version, they didnt have many choices to choose from, and the x850XT PE was way over $200. So I bought the open box version (which came with all cables and the box, go figure) of the x850PRO for $149, and then I flashed it to x850XT PE specs. :D

i still think the x1900 xt. they can be overclocked (effectivley) 200 mhz. they come from the factory very hmmm how could i say it...not to their full potential so you can overclock it so it would blow away pretty much any other card. (except the 7900 gtx in SLI)

I bet the x1900xtx would burn the 7900gtx. even if it was 7900gtx sli vs x1900xtx crossfire. x1900xtx crossfire would still pwn it. And the nvidia cards are not that good with HDTV COMPARE TO X1900XTX HDTV.

You're right. Tests on both cards on same rig and game, show that the 7900 gtx in SLI only gets 20 fps more than ONE xtx. 20 fps. sad :(

As I said, it depends on the games. In nVidia based games, the 7900GTX and SLI setups outperform the XTX and Crossfire setups from ATI. And the same goes for ATI based games.

Well the more I hear about it the more and more I like it. Thank you all for all your input and help. You have no idea how much better I feel. I'm going to wait and see about some things financially wise and I think I'll end up getting it.

Cheaper after the MIR. With the regular X850XT at $89.99 (AFTER MIR), having only 20/60 lower clocks, the PE isn't looking like such an attractive option.

and thats with the 1 day sale.
hehe, that sale's dragged on for a while!

My point was that these cards were never designed to compete directly. Regardless of what you paid for it, it doesn't make for a fair comparison.

Frankly, I don't think that X850XT PEs are worth the money these days. Either save a little money with the regular X850XT (you'll probably have trouble telling the difference between the regular XT and the PE), or spend a little more on an X1800XT ($199.99), or X1900XT.

I would also agree. I only went with it in my case because I wanted a high end AGP card, and after I flashed it, it was much better then the 7800GS, and almost half the price.

The only difference between the XT and XT PE is that the PE edition is clocked slightly higher. So I wouldn't recommend it, I would recommend either getting the x850XT, or upgrade to a X1K series card.

I have this card and be warned...the stock fan is loud.....when running at 100% is really loud. I just crank up the volume in games and it masks it. I cannot sleep with my comp on because of the video card :-/. The rest of my system is silent except for the card.

Runs hot from time to time.

Overall its a very good card except for the noice.
