My Motherboards interface is sata and i know that i need to get a hardrive that's interface is sata and my cd drive too. but the only cd drives that have a sata interface are like 80-130 $. do i really need to get a sata cd rom drive?
You'd be stupid to get an SATA CD-ROM because their max speed is ATA33. A 52x drive only pushes about 7MB/s! 16x DVD, around 22MB/s. Nowhere NEAR the speeds of SATA(150/300MB/s)

Agree, getting SATA optical drives would be a waste of money. Ther will be no speed increase at all. The only bonus would be the small neat cables that are included with SATA. SATA hrad drives however will benefit emmensely from having SATA, as geoff stated, a max of 300Mb/s over SATA.
